Holding a Company Retreat in the Mountains

Benefits

Holding a company retreat in the mountains can be a great way to bring your team together, foster teamwork and collaboration, and rejuvenate your team’s energy and focus. There are many benefits to holding a corporate retreat in the mountains, and with some careful planning, you can create a memorable and productive experience for everyone involved.

Team Building = Productivity

One of the main benefits is the opportunity to get away from the distractions and stressors of the office. At a location like Bison View Lodge in the North Georgia mountains, the peaceful, natural surroundings can help your team relax, build connection, and recharge. This leads to increased productivity and creativity when they return to work. We have plenty of large and small group meeting spaces that cater to both your introverted and extroverted team members.

Mountain company retreats provide opportunities to participate in team building activities such as hiking, rock climbing, ropes courses, tubing the river, and more. These activities can help improve communication and problem-solving skills, as well as build trust and camaraderie among team members.

Planning Your Company Retreat in the Mountains

When planning your company retreat in the mountains, it’s important to consider the needs and preferences of your team. Some people may prefer more strenuous activities, while others may prefer more relaxed and leisurely activities. It’s important to offer a variety of options and allow team members to choose the activities that best suit their interests and abilities.

At Bison View Lodge, many fun activities are located nearby. The Appalachian Trail literally crosses Tray Mountain Road. With a high clearance 4WD vehicle it’s possible to get to remote waterfall trails and other areas of the national forest. During summer months, renting a pontoon boat at Lake Chatuge is a great team building activity. For the introverts in your group, sometimes just hanging out on the hammock or taking a quiet walk on our walking trail is enough to supercharge their performance.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms

When finding the perfect venue, it’s important to consider the logistics of food, lodging, bathrooms, etc. In the mountains, power and the availability of internet are a huge deal. You’ll need to find a suitable location that is easily accessible and has adequate accommodations and amenities for your team. You’ll also need to make transportation arrangements and consider any potential weather-related issues.

One of the major considerations is how to organize the accommodations. Do you need to split up based on gender? Does your team mind sharing bedrooms and bathrooms, etc. Bison View Lodge’s facilities offer 3 walkable, luxurious cabins/lodges with 15 bedrooms and 13.5 bathrooms.  We regularly host corporate teams from 10-40 people for company retreats or corporate offsite meetings.

Overall, holding a corporate retreat in the mountains can be a great way to bring your team together, boost morale, and rejuvenate your team’s energy and focus. With some careful planning and attention to the needs and preferences of your team, you can create a memorable and productive experience that will benefit your team and your business.
